Cutting Through 'Writer's Block'

Here is a tip for whenever you are trying to write out your products or services, preparing a report or writing an article. Whenever the English author Rudyard Kipling waged had a problem with ”writer’s block” he used what he called his six honest men.

Their names are: What - Why - When - How - Where - Who

Just as an example, ask yourself these 6 questions as you are writing ...

  • What is it? Why is it important?
  • When is it necessary?
  • How do you do it?
  • Where is it used?
  • Who should you mention

I also use these when I am writing material or even when I am preparing an email to my prospects and clients. Thanks to Kipling’s simple, but powerful technique (which top journalists also use), I can easily cut through “writer’s block” and can send out an email broadcast (from blank screen to written page) in less than 5 minutes, A short report in a week. An e-book in a couple of weeks (that’s writing less than 30 minutes a day!)
